Copilot in Business Central
Microsoft builds Copilot features and agents into Dynamics 365 Business Central online. Core Copilot comes with the license; the newer agents run on Copilot Credits, billed separately.
What Copilot does in Business Central
- Bank reconciliation (preview)
- Proposes bank-to-ledger matches and G/L accounts for unmatched lines. Nothing is saved until the user accepts the proposal.
- Payables Agent
- Monitors a mailbox for vendor invoices and drafts unposted purchase invoices for a designated supervisor to review.
- Chat and analysis
- Natural-language questions about Business Central data and analysis of lists.
- E-documents and sales
- Maps incoming e-documents to purchase order lines; a Sales Order Agent and suggested sales lines help with order entry.
Pricing and Copilot Credits
Microsoft's FAQ says Copilot is included with the Business Central license at no extra cost, with a caveat that fair-use policies, quotas or pricing may be introduced later. The pricing page lists Essentials at $80 and Premium at $110 per user per month, paid yearly. Agents such as the Payables Agent consume Copilot Credits, bought pay-as-you-go or as prepaid commit units, and require an Azure subscription.
What Microsoft says about your data
Microsoft's Business Central documentation says it doesn't use customer data to train AI models without the customer's explicit permission, so training is opt-in rather than on by default. Copilot runs on Azure OpenAI Service, and an admin setting governs whether data can be processed in another geography. Copilot as a whole can't be switched off, but individual capabilities can be deactivated.
Microsoft's SOC 2 Type 2 attestation lists Microsoft Dynamics 365 in scope without naming Business Central specifically; the report itself, on Microsoft's Service Trust Portal, defines the exact scope.
