Copilot in Dynamics 365 Finance
Microsoft builds Copilot features and prebuilt agents into Dynamics 365 Finance, its ERP for larger organizations. It is a different product from the finance agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot, though the names overlap.
What Copilot does in Dynamics 365 Finance
Microsoft documents invoice capture for vendor invoices, summaries for collections coordinators, customer pages and workflow history, chat over finance and operations data, and Copilot help with budgeting and forecasting. Several features carry Microsoft's "production ready preview" label.
The headline agent is the Account Reconciliation Agent, in preview, which matches and clears transactions between ledgers during the close. Microsoft's product page describes it working on its own to reduce manual close work, but the pages we read don't describe a review step or thresholds, so the listing marks human review unconfirmed. If you're evaluating it, ask how matches are approved and logged before they post.
Not the same as Copilot for Finance in Microsoft 365
Microsoft also offers a Finance agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot, which its Dynamics 365 Finance product page lists as a separate preview experience. If your team searched for Copilot for Finance, check which one a vendor or partner means: one is part of Microsoft 365 Copilot, the other is built into the ERP.
Pricing
Microsoft lists Dynamics 365 Finance at $210 and Finance Premium at $300 per user per month, paid yearly, with AI capabilities within Finance included. Prebuilt agents need Copilot Credits; 1,000 credits per user per month come with Finance Premium only, and more can be bought pay-as-you-go or as prepaid units.
What Microsoft says about your data
Microsoft's data and privacy FAQ for Copilot in Dynamics 365 apps and Power Platform says customer data isn't used to train Copilot or Microsoft AI models unless the customer or tenant admin opts in, and isn't shared with OpenAI. That FAQ covers Dynamics 365 apps generally rather than naming Finance.
